I could not have said it any better!

This is our goal at Formula One Farms

but we go one step further......

we put the icing on the cake!

Not a new mission, let's just say - an adjusted mission! (01/07)

Lets be frank, OK? You can go and buy a horse from just about anyone, you can spend a lot or you can spend a little. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. As a Breeder and show person, I want people friendly, trainable, capable athletes. Putting all those criteria consistently into a horse is my goal. The cross of the Thoroughbred onto the Appaloosa has turned out to be so much more than I expected! Smart, healthy, great feet, tough on the trail, jumping ability, speed and agility! I myself am amazed at this cross! I have ridden my own product for two years now and I am truly thrilled with the results. My second "coming of age" Thoroughbred and Appaloosa cross is just as talented and will be an incredible "All Around" competitor!! Our third TB and Appaloosa cross is just getting started under saddle and is going to make an extremely competitive and flashy Dressage horse.

Why an Appaloosa Sport Horse?

I love all types of riding, if it can be done from the back of a horse, count me in!! Which is why I have always been a fan of the Appaloosa, a truly versatile horse. When you go horse shopping, you will find horses built specifically for a specialty. That's great, if all you want to do is one specific type of riding. You will not find that here at Formula One Farms, instead, you will find horses able to do all types of activities. If you want to focus your horse on one special discipline, an F1F horse will learn it and excel! If you want a horse you can take to the mountains one day and compete in Gaming the next, an F1F horse will do it! Whether it is Trail riding, Endurance, Eventing, Dressage, Jumping, English Pleasure or just to move a few cattle, the horses here at F1F are proving their abilities on the trail and in the arena - and the Appaloosa Sport Horse just adds that extra eye appeal!

Why Foundation?

I have been asked by many people why did I choose a Foundation Stallion. I really wasn't all that keen about owning my own stallion. I just wanted to breed my mares to the proper stallion, raise up the foals and train them for riding. That is our first and foremost reason for being in horses. But after looking at many different stallions and not being happy with what was available, I decided it was best to find a stallion I could raise up myself. This has been a multi- year project, has caused us to delay producing foals and has been a real joy! The mind and demeanor of the Foundation horse is just too amazing for words. Having spent almost two years researching, meeting and talking with owners, settling on the Foundation horse was a no brainer for an inexperienced stallion owner. If you ever get the chance to come and meet Casper, you will see why I was so smitten! And after showing him under saddle in his 3rd year, I am in awe of his learning abilities. We have only sent one horse out for training, all the others we have trained ourselves, so having a horse with a great mind is a big plus!

Quality, not quantity!

After 12 years in the horse business and 20 years of horse experience, we have added 4 rideable horses to the horse population, we currently have 2 for sale (2007). We have 8 horses here on the farm, 7 are riders, one is considered "green". A good amount of our time is spent caring for, training and showing these horses. Our goal has always been to have a couple of foals every couple of years. So, we have one Breeders Trust Thoroughbred Mare and one good Foundation Appaloosa Mare to breed. Our leopard mare, Josey Girl, is now 17 years old. She is in her prime for riding and will continue to compete. She has given us three excellent athletic foals. Striving for our goal is difficult, continuous and challenging! We hope to maintain our standards through consistency, perseverance and hard work. Providing the rider with a ready, willing, safe, able and loving horse! F1F refuses to over produce, our goal is 2 foals every other year.

Our Old Mission Statement (1999)

Welcome to Formula One Farms. Take a look around. We have some fine horses here. Of course we do! Everyone one has fine horses. So why would you come by this site and check out these horses??

Why would you indeed?

Because, you are looking for that certain "something" in your sporting horse. The "something" that sets him apart from the rest of the horses. That special "something" that catches the eye; the sparkle; the flash.

We take pride in producing performance with style. Athletic ability with the added eye candy.

And what is a performance horse you ask? The answer to that question can be answered in many ways, but here on our farm a performance horse is an athlete. An athlete must first be physically capable of performing before he ever sets one hoof onto the stage. Performances include English Pleasure, Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Endurance and Barrel Racing. These are tasks that command a horse to have the confirmation and durability to compete.

We select our stallions for confirmation, disposition, size, good bone, good hooves, proven performance and heart. We breed from mares with versatility, athleticism, disposition and good mothering qualities.

When you take your Formula One Farms horse home, you can count on some very important basics. Your F1F yearling will have already been taught to; lead, tie, stand tied, pony, clip, load, unload, lift all four feet and be trimmed, bathe, lunge, backup, understand the basic commands walk, trot and whoa. All of our yearlings will have varying experiences under their belts. They will have been to parades, to overnight campouts, through water crossings, experienced an arena full of other horses and most likely have already been shown. We thoroughly believe in taking our babies to any event available to them. This makes them easier to work with, happier to learn and generally much nicer to be around.

Throw in a splash of color! What a remarkable combination!

Have a look around, if you like what you see here at our farm and want to see for yourself in person, give us a call. We welcome visitors anytime.
